Description: A 3.5 mile, out-and-back walk along the north shore of Haweswater.
Parking Information: Small free car park in the village of Burnbanks.
Beginning in the tiny village of Burnbanks, this is an easy to navigate walk along the north shore of Haweswater to ‘The Forces’ waterfalls. At the phone box in the village, take the right-hand fork past some houses and to the edge of some woodland. Follow the signs and the very obvious path, which was very wet and muddy in places during my visit in early March.
Keep following the path until you cross the bridge, immediately after which you can take the small steep path on the right, which goes up the hillside to a better view of the falls. You could extend the walk by following the path along the shore, which continues all the way to the far end of the reservoir. You can also extend the walk by continuing up past the falls and on to Bampton Common. I chose just to retrace my steps back to the start, once I’d enjoyed viewing and photographing the falls.
