This is a circular walk of 8.5 miles, to Llyn Crafnant from Capel Curig, with a climb to the summit of Crimpiau along the way.
There are a variety of path surfaces on this route, firm rocky paths to begin with (some wet sections, but easily passable), grass and gravel on the descent to Llyn Crafnant where there is a short Tarmac section, before a climb through the forest to join the forest roads on the return leg. There is a final gravel path section before rejoining the rocky path at the end.
The views from the summit of Crimpiau make it well worth the effort – Moel Siabod, Llynnau Mymbyr, Y Lliwedd, Snowdon, Glyderau, Tryfan, Pen Yr Ol Wen and Carneddau in one grand vista!
Free parking in Capel Curig.
